Bubble Chart

Description

The bubble chart is similar to the scatter chart; x- and y-values determine the locations of data points. The primary difference is the third set of values that is used for bubble sizes. Each bubble's size is proportional to the amount of data.

When arranging data for a bubble chart, enter the x-values in one row or column and the corresponding y-values and bubble sizes in the adjacent rows or columns.

Common Uses

  • Representing financial data
  • Large bubbles draw attention to certain values
  • Depicting negative values
    • When using negative values, the bubble sizes are determined by absolute values. Colors are used to differentiate between positive and negative values.
