Description

A bar chart displays categories along the y-axis and values or data sets along the x-axis. Each bar's length relates to its value.

In some programs, column chart and bar chart are used synonymously, but in Sheetster, bar chart refers specifically to horizontal bars, while column chart refers to vertical bars.

  • Directly comparing values
  • Emphasizing the comparison of values at a fixed period of time
  • Displaying amounts or number of times a value occurs
  • Charting when category labels are too long to be displayed clearly on a column chart
  • Drawing attention to trends in a small number of data points
